CALGARY – An Alberta Party candidate wants restrictions on anti-abortion protests near elementary and high schools.
Angela Kokott called for action after a small group of protesters held graphic abortion pictures outside of Queen Elizabeth High School in Calgary that upset students and parents.
Currently, a provincial law only protects patients at abortion clinics, giving them a 50-metre safe zone from protesters.
John Carpay of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms says such displays may be shocking, but they amount to freedom of expression.
