QEII crash could see charges laid

A crash which closed the QEII near Red Deer on Wednesday afternoon could result in charges.

Cst. Steven Hiscocks with Innisfail RCMP’s Integrated Traffic Unit says the highway was shut down for about 45 minutes beginning shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Crews responded to attend to the three-vehicle MVC and dealt with minor injuries on the northbound side just past the on-ramp at 32 Street.

Hiscocks says the collision was not caused by hazaradous road conditions or the weather in any way, but rather by high traffic volume.

“Let people merge,” he says. “Let people onto the highway that are there. You don’t have to get in front of them. You can slow down and let them in.”
