Winter’s Edge announces speakers line-up

Calgary-based entrepreneur Jim Gibson will be the Keynote Speaker during the lunch presentation. With 30 years of experience and founder of six different technology startups, Jim is a passionate advocate for “paying attention” to what’s coming. As a published author of the 2018 book, Tip of the Spear: Our Species and Technology at a Crossroads, Jim challenges the reader and listener to understand and respond to a new world that sees infinite possibilities meeting serious global problems head on.

Jim is helping support and create the next generation of entrepreneurs in Alberta at a critical time in our history. He is an Executive Business Advisor (EBA) with Alberta Innovates’ Capital Acquisition and Major Transaction team and a board member of Alberta Enterprise Corporation. He is a partner with Thin Air Labs, co-founder of the Rainforest Alberta movement, a mentor with the Venture Mentoring Services of Alberta, a member of the A100, and an advisor to many local startups. He also is the program director of the Calgary Innovation Coalition until February.

Deidra Dionne will be the featured Keynote Speaker at the Canadian Western Bank After Party at The Krossing. She is an 8x World Cup medalist, 2x World Championship bronze medalist and the 2002 Olympic bronze medalist in the sport of freestyle skiing aerials. Deidra began the sport of freestyle skiing in Red Deer Alberta at the age of 13 with aspirations of becoming an Olympian. She reached her goal in 2002 when, at 20 years old, she represented Canada by standing on the podium at the Salt Lake City Olympics.
