RDC announces naming of Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone

Jan 24, 2019 | 8:58 AM

Red Deer College has announced the permanent renaming of an amenity at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre in honour of two long-time college supporters.

The Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone is named in recognition of Steven and Lorna Collicutt.

College officials say their support for RDC in the 1990s contributed to its trades programming and facilities, enhancing the learning and experience of hundreds of learners in the School of Trades and Technologies.

Their recent donation toward Shaping Our Future, RDC officials note, supports the construction of our three major building projects and will impact thousands more of our learners in even more ways.

The Collicutt family’s support for RDC’s Alternative Energy Initiative, new Residence, and Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre is acknowledged in the Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone, located within the new Centre. RDC says their generous donation underscores the Collicutts’ long-standing commitment to the health, wellness and quality of life of our region’s residents.

The Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone, described as a pillar of the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre, includes space and equipment for all types of users and welcomes members from Bethany Care Centre Collegeside, Red Deer College students, staff and faculty, and the community.

“We are very thankful for the ongoing support from Steve and Lorna Collicutt, who are committed community members and generous neighbours, as well as a significant employer in our region,” says RDC President and CEO, Joel Ward. “They are deeply connected to this community, and they continually show their commitment to providing increased opportunities and access for people from across central Alberta. We’re proud to honour their generous donation to our College in the Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone.”
