BLACKFALDS- Town Council and staff, along with representatives from Lacombe Foundation, The Bethany Group, and Berry Architecture hosted residents and stakeholders to the fourth community conversation on the proposed 55+ Housing Project on January 16.

Updates and a recap of the project, planned for construction at Broadway Avenue and South Street were provided to those in attendance.

The group from Berry Architecture provided an overview of three design options that could be developed on the lands including phasing opportunities.

Mike Leathwood, CEO of The Bethany Group, outlined the various financing and ownership/rental options available and provided an update on the funding application put forward to the Seniors Housing Ministry, seeking funding to support the initiative.

Residents interested in living in the new facility are encouraged to fill out an Expression of Interest or alternatively, a Subsidized Apartment Application.

By filling out the forms, individuals provide the proof that the project will be a viable, worthwhile addition to the amenities available to residents in Blackfalds and indicate to the Province that the project is viable through funding support.

All the forms are available at the Blackfalds FCSS Office, 5016 Waghorn Street.
