A mistrial has been declared in the case for a Red Deer man charged for a fatal stabbing just over three years ago.

Daniel Boyd Sawyer, 34, was charged with second-degree murder following the stabbing death of Alan Beach, 31.

Beach suffered multiple injuries during an altercation with another man outside the Blarney Sone Pub at the Village Mall in north Red Deer Nov.18, 2015.

Justice Bill Hopkins declared the mistrial in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench on Monday afternoon and discharged the jury.
