Resolution coming for million-dollar fraud case

Dec 18, 2018 | 11:45 AM

The court case for a woman accused of stealing over a million dollars from a Sylvan Lake bank is slated to be resolved early next month.

Sarah Miles Brouilette faces charges of theft over $5,000, fraud over $5,000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and two counts of laundering the proceeds of crime.

Police allege Brouilette stole $1,148,020 while she was employed as a loan officer at ATB Financial in Sylvan Lake. RCMP began their investigation in August 2017 after receiving a report from ATB alleging that an employee had obtained numerous loans by using the personal information of clients and other people known to the suspect.

Defence lawyer Maurice Collard told Red Deer provincial court on Tuesday that his client plans to enter guilty pleas.
