Man with gun robs hotel room

The hunt is on for a suspect after an armed robbery at a north Red Deer hotel over the weekend.

Red Deer RCMP responded to the Quality Inn on 50 Avenue at about 10 p.m. Friday (Nov. 23).

A male suspect had knocked on the door to a hotel room identifying himself as hotel security. He demanded that the male and female occupants open the door because they were “causing too much noise,”

Once inside, police say he brandished what was thought to be a handgun and directed the female victim to the floor. The suspect then took cell phones, a wallet and a small amount of controlled substances, and fled on foot.
