Driver passes away from injuries suffered in crash near Ponoka
Police say a 77-year-old man involved in a serious collision on the QEII Highway on Oct. 9 has now passed away.
The crash happened just after 10 p.m. just north of the Highway 53 exit. RCMP say a Dodge Grand Caravan was travelling northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway when it crashed head-on into a car.
The 77-year-old man was the lone occupant of the minivan he was driving. According to RCMP, he has succumbed to the injuries he suffered in the crash.
The three occupants of the southbound car – a 28-year-old female driver, 53-year-old female passenger and 1-year-old male passenger – were extricated and taken to an Edmonton hospital after suffering serious injuries.
