Fatal well site explosion near Grande Prairie

GRANDE PRAIRIE- At approximately 7:20 p.m., Grande Prairie Rural RCMP, along with other emergency services responded to an explosion at a well site south of Grande Prairie near Musreau Lake.

A 50-year-old man was found deceased on scene, another man was transported to hospital in Grande Prairie with non life threatening injuries and a third man was not hurt.

All three were working in the area at the time of the incident.

Initial reports indicate that the explosion was the result of a gas leak which has since been contained.
