Two more local candidates have been selected to represent the Alberta Party in the next provincial election.

Dr. Paul Hardy will carry the party’s colours in Red Deer – North while Myles Chykerda will do so in Lacombe – Ponoka.

Hardy has lived in Red Deer since 1997 and has worked as a general surgeon at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. He has served as president of the Alberta Association of General Surgeons.

Hardy is a vocal advocate for hospital expansion in Red Deer and has been a leading force behind the Diagnosis Critical. Your Central Alberta Regional Hospital movement.

“Although progress has been made, action is still required to catch up from missed opportunities during the past twenty years, not to mention going forward for the next two decades,” Hardy says on the Alberta Party website.

Chykerda, a Lacombe resident, is an archaeologist, educator and community volunteer.

“I’m honoured and humbled by the confidence that the Alberta Party has placed on me and excited to work with an amazing team of people who are standing up for Alberta and their constituencies as we put province before politics,” he said on Twitter.

Family law mediator Ryan McDougall is the Alberta Party candidate for Red Deer – South.

The Alberta Party is hosting its AGM starting today in Edmonton.
