Charges pending against man wielding knife in downtown area

Charges are pending against a 31-year-old man following an incident in downtown Red Deer Tuesday morning.

RCMP responded at about 10:30 a.m. to a report of a man with a knife in the area of 52 Street and 53 Avenue.

On arrival, RCMP determined that there had been a verbal dispute between two men who were known to each other, and arrested a suspect who was in possession of a knife.

Police say the incident does not appear to have involved a physical altercation, and there were no injuries.
