Man charged for crashing stolen truck into transit bus in north Red Deer
A 34-year-old man has been charged after the stolen truck he was driving collided with several vehicles including a Red Deer Transit bus the afternoon of September 20.
Mounties responded at about 5 p.m. to reports that a truck driving at high speed in north Red Deer was involved in a collision after allegedly running a red light at the intersection of 60 Street and Taylor Drive. The truck then collided with a transit bus that was stopped at Horn Street.
The driver of the truck then fled on foot and was pursued by a number of citizens, who restrained him in an alley behind Hewson Avenue until police arrived.
Jeremy John Terpstra was wanted on multiple warrants at the time of his arrest and faces additional charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000, driving while disqualified, two counts of failing to remain at scene of a collision, driving without registration, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and fail to stop at intersection (red light).
