Riggers eliminated from nationals

The 2018 baseball season has come to an end for the Red Deer Riggers.

The Senior Men’s AAA squad was eliminated from Baseball Canada Men’s National Championships in Victoria, B.C. on Saturday after an 8-7 extra innings defeat to Quebec.

Team officials say despite a huge comeback in the bottom of the 7th inning, the Riggers fell just short of extending their stay in the B.C. capital.

The Riggers finished 1-3 at the 10-team tournament, starting off with a 8-0 shutout win over the Iderton (ON2) Red Army Thursday morning which was followed up with a7-2 loss to the Coquitlam Angels Thursday afternoon.
