Two canoers injured after taking a spill near Rocky

A group of canoers was rescued from the North Saskatchewan River over the weekend.

On August 4 around 8:00 p.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to a call for assistance from canoers who had capsized and had fallen into the river northeast of town.

Two of the eight canoers had fallen into the water and required medical attention. The group was stranded on the east side of the river.

RCMP, Search and Rescue, EMS, and Clearwater Fire responded and launched two rescue boats. Crews located the group and escorted the two injured canoers across the river where they were treated by EMS.
