Winners opening second Red Deer store at Parkland Mall

Parkland Mall is filling a big chunk of the space left empty by the closure of Safeway nearly five years ago.

Mall officials confirm Winners will be opening their second Red Deer location in the coming months. The company will announce an opening date at a later time.

Melody McKnight, Retail Manager for Parkland Mall, says Winners will occupy 40 per cent of the former grocery store space, adding negotiations are underway with one or two other perspective tenants to fill the remaining 60 per cent.

McKnight says Winners plans to add this as a second Red Deer location and will continue to operate their current south end store.

Meantime, McKnight says they are also close to securing a tenant for the space formerly occupied by Sport Chek, and that an announcement of who it is will be made at a later date.
