Police watchdog investigates in-custody death in St. Paul

ST. PAUL – Alberta’s police watchdog is investigating the death of a man who fought with officers in an east-central Alberta town.

St. Paul RCMP received a complaint that a man was breaking windows at a hotel early Tuesday morning.

Police say a confrontation between officers and the suspect led to a physical altercation.

They say the man became unresponsive during that altercation and was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead.
