Red Deer Museum & Art Gallery celebrates Métis culture
RED DEER- This Heritage Day, August 6, from 1-4 p.m., the Red Deer Museum & Art Gallery (MAG) is celebrating Métis culture.
Drop by for some bannock, family friendly crafts, tours of their current exhibit The Writing on the Wall: Works of Dr. Joane Cardinal-Schubert RCA, live fiddling by Brianna Lizotte, and a jigging lesson.
Admission to this event is free, donations are gratefully accepted.
“The Heritage Day celebrations give us the opportunity to explore the amazing history and diversity of Red Deer and Central Alberta,” says Lorna Johnson, Executive Director. “It is a great opportunity to say ‘welcome’ to all of the newcomers who have recently made Red Deer their home. We hope that everyone will come and explore the MAG and learn about our Metis heritage. We will be delighted to tell you about all of the activities that we have planned for the year ahead.”
