Local jobless rate rises in June

The local jobless rate rose by a half-per cent last month, but is still lower than it was a year ago.
The unemployment rate for the Red Deer region for June was 5.4 per cent, according to Statistics Canada.
That’s up from 4.9 per cent in May. The local jobless rate in June 2017 was 7.0 per cent.
The provincial unemployment rate rose slightly from 6.2 per cent in May to 6.5 last month.
