Suspect in Quebec senior slaying caught on subway camera heading toward Montreal

MONTREAL — Police north of Montreal were still looking Monday for a man sought in the weekend slaying of a 71-year-old woman.

Laval police said Christophe Oliviera remained on the lam, but surveillance camera footage from inside the metro system Saturday showed the suspect was heading towards Montreal.

On Monday, a police spokesperson said the suspect was seen on the video chatting with someone.

“The suspect was in contact with this individual in a metro station and left with him,” said spokeswoman Stephanie Beshara. “He is considered an important witness.”
