BANFF- A hiker suffered a minor hand injury when he was attacked by a female grizzly bear on a trail in Banff National Park.
Parks Canada says the lone hiker was on the Lake Minnewanka shoreline trail late Sunday morning when a cub ran across the path a few metres ahead of him.
Its mother followed, then charged the man and swatted at him before leaving.
Officials say the hiker managed to discharge some bear spray, which likely halted the bear’s charge.
