Jun 4, 2018 | 11:23 AM

The court case against former Innisfail-Sylvan Lake MLA Don MacIntyre is working toward a resolution.

MacIntyre was not present in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench on Monday for arraignment. He was represented by Counsel Heather Ferg, who was appearing on behalf of MacIntyre’s Calgary lawyer Ian McKay.

Ferg indicated they are anticipating resolution in the case in which the 62-year-old is charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. The matter has been put over until January 11, 2019.

MacIntyre resigned from his first term as MLA after being charged in February.

Details regarding the charges are not known at this time. The Criminal Code of Canada defines sexual interference as a charge related to a person who, for a sexual purpose, touches, directly or indirectly, with a part of the body or with an object, any part of the body of a person under the age of 16.

MacIntyre is not currently in custody but must abide by several conditions which include that he have no contact with anyone under 16 without a guardian present. He must also stay at least 100 metres away from a playground, public swimming pool, daycare or school yard.
