ASIRT continues to investigate fatal Calgary Police shooting

CALGARY- Alberta’s police watchdog says a folding knife with its blade exposed has been recovered from the scene of a police-involved shooting in Calgary this week that left a man dead.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team and Calgary police have not released a name, but the man has been identified as a 26-year-old Calgary resident who was out on bail with conditions that he not possess weapons, including knives.

The shooting happened Monday night in a northeast neighbourhood, where investigators say a plainclothes officer got into a confrontation with a suspect and fired a single shot from a service firearm.

The man was struck in the upper chest and died at the scene.
