Blackfalds conducts Municipal Census May 1 – June 30

Mar 23, 2018 | 6:55 AM

BLACKFALDS – Town council has voted to proceed with conducting the annual Municipal Census.

The census will be conducted through online responses and door-to-door with official census enumerators.

Online collection will be held from May 1 to June 30 and door-to-door will take place May 15 to June 30.

By April 30, residential addresses in Blackfalds will receive their Census PIN Letter – the unique and secure PIN (Personal Identification Number) is specific to residential addresses and will be required to log on to the online Census on the Town of Blackfalds website as of May 1.

Enumerators will go door-to-door between May 15 and June 30 to residents who have not responded online.

Census Enumerators are responsible for confidential collection and will be wearing a Town of Blackfalds photo identification badge along with logo branded vests.

Residents who complete their 2018 Census online between May 1 and May 15 will be automatically entered for a chance to win an Abbey Centre Annual Family Pass or a tablet (approximate value of just over $1000).

The data collected will be used to determine an official population and residence count.

The information will then be used to apply for grants available through the Province.

The grants are awarded on a per capita basis and a census count ensures that maximum grant funds are received.
