More Hockey Alberta Provincials action this weekend

The Rimbey Renegades are hosting the Midget C Hockey Alberta Provincial Championship at the Vern Poffenroth Arena from Thursday through Sunday.

Rimbey’s first round-robin game is Thursday night, 6:30 p.m. against the Vulcan Hawks.

The Blackfalds Bulldogs see their first action at 8:00 a.m. on Friday against the Bassano Outlaws, while the Stettler Storm begin play at 10:30 a.m. against the Elk Point Avalanche.

Rimbey’s second game Friday is 1:00 p.m. against the La Crete Lumberjacks, while Blackfalds plays again Friday night at 7:30 against Elk Point.

Stettler continues play Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. against Bassano, while Rimbey faces the Westlock Warriors at 1:00 p.m. Meantime, Blackfalds and Stettler go head to head at 3:30 Saturday afternoon.

The semi-finals and final take place on Sunday, March 25 starting at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 respectively. The Gold medal game starts at 4:00 p.m.

Other area hockey teams involved in provincial championship tournaments this weekend include the Rocky Royals who are in Wetaskiwin from March 22 – 25.

The Midget B provincial championship has Rocky playing the Calgary Saints Thursday, March 22 at 7:00 p.m. and Strathcona at 4:00 p.m. Friday.

On Saturday, the Royals are in action at 12:00 p.m. against Carstairs and 7:00 p.m. against Lac La Biche.

The semi-finals and final take place Sunday, March 25.

Finally, Ponoka is competing in the Midget D provincial championship tournament in Taber March 22 – 25.

Ponoka first plays Tofield on Thursday, March 22 starting at 5:00 p.m.

Their schedule continues Friday at 2:15 p.m. against Valleyview and Saturday against Taber at 2:00 p.m.

The semi-finals and final take place Sunday, March 25.
