Edmonton woman found not criminally responsible for ambulance theft
EDMONTON – A 29-year-old Edmonton woman who drove off from a hospital in an ambulance has been found not criminally responsible for her actions.
In January 2016, Chelsea Paquette was charged with dangerous driving, theft over $5,000, failing to remain at the scene of a collision and driving an uninsured vehicle.
Justice Wayne Renke of Court of Queen’s Bench ruled Tuesday that Paquette was suffering from an episode related to bipolar disorder at the time.
Court heard she was hearing voices and feared staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital were trying to hurt her.
