LEASE SITE THEFTS, FUEL STOLEN FROM PARKED BUS

Drayton Valley RCMP on March 8 around 8:30 a.m. a report came in of three reported thefts from lease sites that occurred over the past two weeks. Batteries and ground cable were taken.

Just before 9 a.m. on 52 Street in Rocky Rapids a call came in after a truck was attempted to be stolen. The vehicle suffered damage to its door and steering column.

At 12:40 p.m. at Frank Maddock School  a report was received after a bus parked at the school had fuel stolen from it. 

THREE ARRESTED AFTER A BREAK AND ENTER TO RESIDENCE

On March 9 just before  4 a.m. on Range Road 85 in Brazeau County members responded to a residential alarm and located 2 males and a female nearby. Evidence was gathered and all three were arrested and are facing charges.

Ricky Labine, 51, of Edmonton has been charged with: breaking and entering into a residence as well as possession of break-in instruments.  Labine was released by a Justice of the Peace on conditions, first appearance May 1, 2018.

Leo McIntyre, 46,  of Edmonton has been charged with: breaking and entering into a residence, possession of break-in instruments, and possession of a controlled substance.  McIntyre was remanded into custody, first appearance May 1, 2018.

Charges are pending against the 33-year-old female also involved.

At 8:02 a theft from a vehicle was reported to have occurred sometime overnight on 49th Street. The vehicle had been left unlocked. 

At 3:18 p.m. in Parkland Count on Highway 759 a report came in that an SUV had been stolen sometime after 9 a.m. Investigation determined this to be a dispute over marital property and charges are being laid in the matter. 

VEHICLE THEFT, BREAK AND ENTER

On March 10 a complaint came in just before 9 a.m. in Parkland County on Highway 759 that a dark grey 2016 Dodge Journey had been stolen overnight.  It has not been recovered.

At 2:33 p.m. on 52 Avenue a report was received of a break and enter to an unoccupied residential garage. The copper wire was stripped from electrical fixtures causing about $500 in damage.

ASSAULT

On March 11 at 2:19 p.m. a call came in from the Drayton Valley Hospital after a male arrived at the hospital due to a home invasion that occurred overnight. Victim had been assaulted by two suspects inside his residence who produced a weapon. The suspects accused the male of taking inappropriate photos, asked for money and stole several items from his residence prior to leaving. Male was under 6’ and wearing a mask, female also under 6’ and skinny. The matter is under investigation and it is believed to have been targeted and the victim is known to police. 

SUSPICIOUS MALES, YOUTH CHARGED WITH POSSESSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING 

On March 12 at 4:17 a.m. on 50th Street police were advised that three males in black, all with bags were in the alley, trying to get into neighbours shed. Member attended, suspects not located but residents at the location are known to police.

At 11:25 p.m. on Township Road 492 by a Cemetery in Brazeau County a member on patrol checked a parked vehicle and found two youths smoking marijuana. Further investigation lead to the driver being charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana. He was also issued a 24 hour suspension from driving. Parents were advised of the situation. 

THEFT FROM VEHICLES, MAN CHARGED WITH FIREARM OFFENCES

On the morning of March 13 two calls came in of theft from vehicles that had occurred overnight in Drayton Valley, one on 51 Avenue and the other on 47 Street. In one case the back window was smashed out to gain entry to the vehicle.  

At 2:42 p.m. on 42 Avenue  a complainant stated a male tried to enter his truck but found that the door was locked so male left. The incident was captured on video, male was seen wearing a grey hoodie and sweatshirt. 

At 10:06 p.m. by All Choice Rentals  police checked a truck idling near the business. Investigation lead to a 33-year-old male, Darrell Graham of Breton, being arrested. Graham was transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that resulted in readings of almost three times the legal limit for alcohol. He was also in possession of a loaded rifle without having a PAL, had a significant quantity of marijuana and had a prohibited weapon (taser) in the vehicle. 

Graham has been charged with a number of offences including impaired care & control of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and 8 firearm/weapon related offences.  Graham was held for a bail hearing and released on a Recognizance with multiple conditions.  First appearance March 20, 2018. 

BURN OUT VEHICLE FOUND, TWO ATTEMPTED BREAK AND ENTERS IN LODGEPOLE

On the morning of March 14 at 7:40 a.m. on Meier Avenue police received a report of keys being stolen from a vehicle sometime overnight. 

Then at 11:22 a.m. Mounties were alerted to a burnt out vehicle abandoned on a lease site in Brazeau County. The vehicle was later towed for further investigation. 

On the evening of the 14th two reports came in within minutes of each other of attempted break and enters to businesses in Lodgepole.  The first occurred at 11:18 p.m. when a red 2017 Ford F-350 with 3-4 occupants attempted to break into the Pine Inn by prying the door open.  Staff were on site and scared the suspects away before they could gain entry.

Then at 11:20 p.m. the same vehicle attempted to break into the General Store by prying the door open.  Staff were on site and scared the suspects away before they could gain entry.

The vehicle description was passed to neighboring detachments and the vehicle was sighted by Rocky Mountain House RCMP a short time later who attempted to stop the vehicle, however it fled.

GAS AND DASH, BREAK AND ENTER

During the morning hours of March 15 a gas and dash was reported on 50th Street at 4:18 a.m. A silver Dodge Caravan had filled up with $79 worth of fuel and took off without paying. 

At 7:20 a.m. at the Race Trac Gas station in Cynthia a break and enter was reported to police that had occurred sometime during the overnight hours. The incident is believed to be related to the attempted break and enters in Lodgepole.  Entry made through from door, matter is under investigation.
