PM TRUDEAU STANDS BY OFFICIAL ABOUT INDIA TRIP

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is standing by a government official who suggested factions within the Indian government were involved in sabotaging his visit to India last week. But Trudeau has nevertheless accepted the offer of Liberal backbencher Randeep Sarai to step down as chair of the party’s Pacific caucus. Sarai has apologized for his role in what he calls “recent unfortunate events” and has pledged to use better judgment in future.

ONTARIO PC LEADERSHIP HOPEFULS SET FOR FINAL DEBATE

The four candidates competing to lead Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives will face off once more today in Ottawa. It will be the second and final debate for Christine Elliott, Caroline Mulroney, Doug Ford and Tanya Granic Allen ahead of a leadership vote next month. The party will select a new leader on March 10.

ALLEGED TORONTO SERIAL KILLER IN COURT TODAY

Accused serial killer Bruce McArthur will be back in a Toronto court today via a video link. The 66-year-old self-employed landscaper was arrested in January and has since been charged him with six counts of first-degree murder. Most of his alleged victims were men who had gone missing from Toronto’s gay village.

LOTTERY WINNERS TO BE INTRODUCED

Dozens of new millionaires in Newfoundlanders will be revealed today.  Some 350 people are expected to be on hand today when lottery officials hand over a $60 million Lotto Max jackpot. Due to the number of people involved, the Atlantic Lottery Corporation had to find a special venue for today’s presentation. No word yet on just how many people share the jackpot.
