Red Deer gets community paramedic team

Feb 20, 2018 | 11:32 AM

Red Deer now has a community paramedic team.

The Associate Minister of Health made the announcement Tuesday morning saying the mobile community paramedics will be providing on-site care to seniors or anyone with chronic conditions.

“When we help Albertans avoid stressful trips to the emergency department, everyone wins. These paramedics are effective and compassionate frontline workers, helping Albertans get the right care at the right time, right in their own homes,” said Brandy Payne, Associate Minister of Health.

The program is already used in Calgary and Edmonton. Red Deer’s chapter became operational on Feb. 12, according to the province.
