I love First Peoples campaign coming to Red Deer
A national campaign aiming to break the cycle of poverty in the lives of First Nations children is coming to Red Deer November 10.
Through education and the motivation to stay in school, the I love First Peoples campaign will see Youth Ambassadors Jase Nelson and Tennille Day Chief live on location at the Parkland Mall that day to collect shoeboxes as part of the initiative.
Among other things, the shoeboxes can be filled with items such as finger paint, modelling clay, colouring book, ball cap, gloves, socks, sunglasses, flashlight, tambourine, harmonica, flute, small hand drum, sketch pad, gel pens, sharpies or a journal.
Red Deer and Central Alberta Chapter Coordinator Crystal Day Chief says their desire is to see Native communities flourish and First Nations people honoured and their culture restored.
