Thompson clinches F1600 Super Series title
Parker Thompson is looking to finish another racing season in style after one of the best weekends of his career.
Thompson raced three times over the weekend at Calabogie Motorsports Park in Ontario, winning each time.
The victory in race one clinched the F1600 Super Series championship for Thompson, who won seven of 11 Super Series races held over four weekends starting in June.
Up next for Thompson is his final race of the year on the USF2000 series, September 3 at Watkins Glen.
“We tested very well there — we were the fastest at the overall test, so team spirits are high,” Thompson says. “Not only are we coming off three wins from Calabogie, we also know we’ve got a really good car developed for Watkins Glen. This weekend is going to be a pretty fun one.”
Going into the race, Thompson is third in the USF2000 rankings, 61 points behind the leader. He will not move up or down regardless of his performance at Watkins Glen.
