EDMONTON- A Canadian Armed Forces soldier has been charged with child luring and child pornography related offences.

The charges follow a joint investigation by ALERTs Internet Child Exploitation unit and the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations.

Steven Massey, 32, has been charged with luring, making child pornography, and distribution of child pornography.

Massey is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and is based in Wainright.

Massey was arrested on June 21, in Edmonton.

Meanwhile his military residence was searched and a number of computers and electronic devices were seized.

Military Police and Alberta Sheriffs provided assistance with the investigation.

The investigation relates to child luring allegations against Massey that were first discovered by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations based in Laredo, Texas in March 2017.

ICE alleges that Massey had attempted to arrange to meet up with a Texas girl for sex.

Massey has been released from custody on a number of court imposed conditions.

He is scheduled to appear in court again on June 30.

Anyone with information about this investigation or any child exploitation offence is encouraged to contact local police or www.cybertip.ca.
