Red Deer celebrates Environment Week
RED DEER- The City of Red Deer, along with other workplaces, will be joining Canadians next week in the Commuter Challenge and leaving their vehicles at home in an effort to make our air cleaner.
The Commuter Challenge is a week-long event that takes place during Canadian Environment Week, June 4-10.
The competition encourages people to leave their vehicles at home and walk, ride their bike, carpool or take transit to work.
“Improving our air quality is one of the seven focus areas of our Environmental Master Plan,” said Bailey Doepker, Environmental Program Specialist.“When we heard about the Commuter Challenge, we knew it would be a great way to encourage residents to reduce emissions and try different types of transportation, even for a day.”
