Public meeting to discuss seniors’ and long-term healthcare concerns
A healthcare crisis in Alberta, according to some, needs to be addressed immediately.
A public meeting is being held Tuesday night at the Snell Auditorium, located downstairs at the downtown branch of the Red Deer Public Library, starting at 7 p.m.
Danielle Klooster, spokesperson for families living at Community Care Cottages in Red Deer and Lacombe, says choosing where one lives should be a fundamental right for Alberta seniors.
“Where we want to go with this meeting is talk about the crisis in long-term care,” She says. “The fact that there are not enough beds, the care is really terrible in many instances and despite that, the system really wants to force people into the system and isn’t open to supporting any kind of alternative.”
