7th annual food drive for women’s shelter takes place Saturday
Get your non-perishable items all ready, because bags will be distributed today for the the seventh annual food drive hosted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in support of the Mountain Rose Women’s Shelter.
Over 2,500 bags will be handed out throughout the community with the shelter’s wish list attached.
“I know if’s been over seven years now, but our congregation wanted to do something in the community for service and we really racked our brains on different things and when this came up it just seemed like a natural fit for us” said Bishop Garth Hudkins. “For us to be able to support and help those families is very important to us and very dear to our hearts.”
Last year the shelter received about $7,000 worth of donations, which was down a little bit from previous years.
