7th annual food drive for women’s shelter takes place Saturday

Executive Director for the MRWS, Cindy Easton says this food drive helps save them about $7,000 to $8,000 a year since they are only 70 per cent funded and the rest is through fundraising or in -kind donations.

“Our food budgets about $16,000 a year” she says. “So you know when you have to provide food to up to 16 people three times a day it gets very expensive and with this partnership and the support that we get from all the church members it really helps support the women and children that come in to our shelter.”

Even though volunteers only pick up in Rocky, county residents are more than welcome to participate by just dropping off a bag at the office weekdays from 8a.m to 4:30p.m at 5110-50 Ave.

Church volunteers will distribute bags until May 25 and the actual pick up day will be May 27 at 10:00am.
