Lacombe 2018 Recreation and Culture Grant Program Community Projects approved

LACOMBE- The City has announced the projects approved to receive funding from the 2018 Recreation and Culture Grant Program.

This is the fifth year of the grant program.

The purpose of the program is to support new local programs and services that enhance the quality of life of Lacombians through recreation and/or culture.

“The City of Lacombe is working with organizations to address community needs by providing funding to run new recreation and culture programs and initiatives,” said City of Lacombe Recreation and Culture Manager Sandi Stewart. “The approved 2018 projects will benefit many in our community.”

 Local young adults will be able to enjoy new activities hosted by YALA (Young Adults of Lacombe), adults of all ages can participate in the proposed Fall Conference of the Arts, and everyone, from children to seniors, can get involved in Lacombe’s Dance Theatre.

Residents can also participate the new cultural programming project by LPACF (Lacombe Performing Arts Centre Foundation) or learn homesteading skills through the Lacombe and District Historical Society’s new project.

The City of Lacombe provided $8000 to facilitate the 2018 Recreation and Culture Grant Program:

The Lacombe Arts Guild receives $1250 for Fall Conference of the Arts.
The Lacombe Historical Society was given $700 for their Skills for Homesteaders project.
The Lacombe Performing Arts Centre’s Foundation Culture Programing project gets $4000.
Maddox Dance Co. receives $1250 for Lacombe’s Dance Theatre.
Young Adults of Lacombe was given $800 for Jump Start.

Grant submissions totaling almost $22,000 were received for consideration.
