Summer Sports Day fun for the whole family

Jun 30, 2017 | 3:06 PM

The Central Alberta Refugee Effort (CARE) is hosting the fifth annual Introduction to Canadian Sports on Friday June 30th.

The event will take place from 1p.m. until 6p.m. at Eastview Estates Park, located at 120 Ellenwood Drive, Red Deer.

Immigrant families from Red Deer and area are invited to come out and take part in team sports like baseball, basketball, football, volleyball and tennis. There will also be face painting during the event, which culminates with a Halal BBQ at 5 p.m.

The event is hosted in an effort to introduce new-comers to Canada to local summer sports and recreational options available in the City. The ultimate goal is to have them be more involved and active in the community and engage youth in activities that are age-appropriate.
