Man and woman facing charges after arrest at Rebels game

Nov 20, 2017 | 9:41 AM

Fans leaving Saturday’s Red Deer Rebels were treated to a larger than normal police presence.

A couple was arrested by RCMP after security asked them to remove a woman staff believed to be highly intoxicated and who was refusing to leave the Enmax Centrium.

Although the game had already ended, Mounties say many people were still in the building when police approached the woman. She is accused of resisting both security and RCMP verbal requests to leave and then striking, kicking and struggling repeatedly with one of the officers while being placed under arrest. At that point, her male companion tried to intervene and was also placed under arrest.

RCMP say the incident required additional officers to attend in order to restrain the suspect who was apprehended without injury but not before two of the officers sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
