More calls for an inquiry into the death of 4-year-old Serenity

EDMONTON – The grandfather of a four-year-old girl who died under suspicious circumstances in government care in 2014 says police have yet to ask the family about it.

The girl known as Serenity died while in foster care with relatives despite previous concerns from her birth mother that the girl was being abused.

Leaked reports to the media late last year revealed that before she died, Serenity was taken to hospital emaciated and hypothermic with signs of physical and sexual abuse but no charges have been laid.

The grandfather wants a public inquiry to get to the bottom of what happened to Serenity and to prevent similar deaths of children in care.
