Lacombe County council has unanimously reappointed Division 3 Councillor Barb Shepherd as reeve.

This will be Shepherd’s third one-year term.

“Reeve Shepherd has demonstrated unwavering dedication to her role as Reeve of Lacombe County,” said County Manager Tim Timmons. “We look forward to her continued, steadfast leadership during the upcoming year.”

Shepherd spoke of the position’s honour.

“I always heard former Reeve Paula Law speak about the privilege of being elected as Reeve, and I understand now what she meant,” shared Reeve Shepherd. “I thank my fellow councillors for their support, trust, and confidence in me and appreciate the opportunity to serve Lacombe County in this capacity once again.”

Division 1 Councillor John Ireland was also re-elected deputy reeve, now to serve a second two-year term.

“Reeve Shepherd’s leadership has been truly inspiring, and I am honoured to continue serving as Deputy Reeve,” stated Ireland. “Together with our fellow councillors, we remain committed to advancing the well-being of Lacombe County and its residents.”

Shepherd moved from Saskatchewan to central Alberta in 1984, and Ireland grew up on a farm east of Red Deer.

Both are involved with many boards, committees and organizations.
