The Central Alberta Economic Partnership (CAEP) is officially inviting businesses of all sizes to its Workforce Strategies Summit on March 30, 2023 at Westerner Park.

Originally announced at their Fall General Meeting in November, CAEP officials say the purpose of the summit is to help employers gain insight and learn strategies to recruit, hire, and retain employees.

“As Alberta’s economy emerges from the global pandemic, job vacancies are creating barriers to growth and success,” they said in a release.

The one-day conference is scheduled to feature keynote speakers and present trends and solutions through two panels of experts. Along with networking, attendees will have the opportunity to seek advice one-to-one from Human Resource professionals, immigration consultants, lawyers, business succession planning specialists from organizations such as BusinessLink, Canada Labour Solutions, BLHR Consulting and others in a business-to-business connection area.

“CAEP is pleased to collaborate on the Summit with post-secondaries, government agencies, and private employment, support, and economic development businesses, who are making this opportunity available through their sponsorship and sharing of expertise. It will be a full and valuable day for employers,” said CAEP Executive Director Kimberley Worthington.

Some of those partners include Community Futures Central Alberta, Olds College, Red Deer Polytechnic, Central Alberta Regional Innovation Network, Red Deer Chamber of Commerce, Burman University, Waste Connections Canada, and Canadian Immigration Visa Services.

CAEP Chair James Carpenter stated that recently, capacity building was noted as one of the key strategic directions in the government’s Economic Development in Rural Alberta Plan. As well, he said that CAEP’s Regional Economic Growth Strategy identifies Labour Market Growth as a regional goal.

In January 2022, a Workforce Development Strategy was released for the region, recommending educational opportunities for employers around recruitment and retention.

“We know that our region’s economic success relies on the workforce and supporting employers with resources. This Summit brings together business, post-secondaries, and agencies in an environment that will inspire further collaboration and training and help grow a skilled workforce to meet the needs of our region,” said Kelly Kierluk, General Manager of Community Futures Central Alberta, funder of the strategy.

Until December 31, 2022, Early Bird tickets start at $159. More information and tickets are available at CentralSummit.ca.
