Red Deer property taxes due Friday

Jun 27, 2017 | 7:05 AM

RED DEER- The City is reminding residents that property tax bills for 2017 are due on Friday, June 30.

Residents are encouraged to pay before the deadline to ensure payments are processed on time to avoid paying a seven per cent penalty.

Penalties are applied to any outstanding property taxes owing.

For example, if $2,000 is left unpaid after the due date, a penalty of seven per cent or $140 would be applied to the account on July 1.

The tax deadline and penalties do not apply to property owners who pay monthly through The City’s Tax Instalment Plan (TIP).

Payments can be made at most financial institutions (including online or telephone banking), in person at City Hall or by mail which must be postmarked by Canada Post by June 30 to avoid penalty.

Credit cards cannot be used to pay property tax.
