On April 17, 2025, William Barrie Levasseur passed away peacefully at Red Deer Regional Hospital surrounded by the love of his family.
Barrie touched the lives of so many people throughout his life. His family and his friends created great joy for him. Barrie taught in the Red Deer Public School District for 30 years from 1966 to 1996 at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School and Hunting Hills High School. After this he continued to tutor and fully retired in 1998. Throughout his teaching career he also worked closely with the students playing for the Red Deer Rebels. Barrie had a wonderful circle of Golf Buddies that met weekly for social events as well as an occasional golf game. He had a love of music, hockey, baseball, football, and golf. Barrie also had wonderful friends in Manitou Beach Saskatchewan that he truly enjoyed being with. Manitou Beach became a place of solace, healing, and happiness for him.
Barrie was predeceased by his wife, Ann Marie; his daughters, Bonnie and Carolyn, and sons, Danny and Gene; his parents, Urban and Doris; and his brother, Lyle.
Barrie is survived by his daughter Erin Dondo (Reg), his grandchildren Kieran (Victoria) Dondo and Kirsten Dondo, his Best Pal Janet Valleau, his sisters Gail and Linda (Ron), and all of his nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the doctors, the nurses on Unit 33, and Specialized Teams at Red Deer Regional Hospital that gave Barrie such wonderful care and great respect. There are so many of you to thank. You also showed such care and compassion for the family and we are forever grateful.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Red Deer Hospice and Friends of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.
Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on May 7th, 2025 at Livingstones Church in Red Deer Alberta. A reception from 2:00pm – 4:00pm will follow.
