Wendy Lee Schmidt (nee Eshpeter)
1949 – 2022
On Thursday February 16 2023 Wendy Lee Schmidt (nee Eshpeter) loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 73.
Wendy was born April 22, 1949 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Wendy loved to keep up with what her grandkids were doing, including taking walks, baking, reading and listening to music, which also included musical theatre events. Wendy loved aviation and was a licensed pilot, she enjoyed being Ron’s co-pilot on their adventures. Some of these adventures were by motorhome that saw them travel to some of their favourite places including Alaska/Yukon and California where the wintered in Palm Springs, as well as many other trips that she greatly enjoyed.
Wendy also loved to help people, she volunteered with Victim Services and palliative care in the hospital, where she taught some to play crib. She was fond of her dogs and especially Havie who was her ‘baby’ that she had for 18 years.
Wendy will be greatly missed by her husband Ron of 38 years, her children Tim (Alison) deJonge, Kevin (Jill) deJonge, Rhonda (Joe) Schmidt, her grandchildren Randi (Dale), Rylie (Kam), Peyton, Luuk & Zoe and her great-grandchildren Kallan, Evalyn & Amelia. She is also survived by her siblings Barry (Eva) Eshpeter, Mick (Lynn) Eshpeter and Janice (Mike) Henry. She was predeceased by her stepson Ryan Schmidt and her parents James and Betty Eshpeter.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 1p.m. at Eventide Funeral Home, 4820 45 street, Red Deer, Alberta.
