The family of Wayne Donald Fournier are deeply saddened to announce that Wayne passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital after a challenging fight with diabetes and heart disease.
Wayne was born in Chatham, New Brunswick on December 11, 1958, grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and moved to Alberta in 1980 where he met his loving wife Marlene Belich. His greatest joy was to socialize with family and friends exchanging jokes and stories. He particularly enjoyed camping and ATV’ing in Alberta’s beautiful Foothills. In his spare time, he made sure that he knew every Star Trek movie and television serial by heart. He considered John Wayne to be his hero.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife and children, Marlene, Adam (Miranda) and Julia, all of whom he dearly loved. He is also survived by his siblings Cathy (Pete) Machan, Rick (Renate) Fournier, and Donald Fournier; his brother & sister-in-law, Mel & Meryl Belich; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and many caring friends. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Joan and Don, and his sister, Karen. He will also be deeply missed by his ‘fur babies’, Lilo and Duke.
A private family funeral service will first be held at Alto-Reste Memorial Gardens. In the New Year a Celebration of Life will be held. Details are to be announced.
If friends and family desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
