Sadly, Wade passed away on September 7, 2022 after succumbing to injuries sustained from a bicycle accident/incident the previous week.
Wade was predeceased by his Mother, Lillian Spence; Father, Gilbert Girard; Brothers Shel and Kevin Girard; Step-Brother, Bryan Spence; and (Step)Father-in-Law Frank Omand. Left to mourn is his Wife Darlene (March) Girard, who has loved him for the past 29 years. Also left to mourn are his Sister, Dara and Brother-in-Law, Corey Mayo; Mother-in-Law Evelyn Omand; Brother-in-Law, Jay March; his Step Families: Father, Bruce (Caroline) Spence; Sisters, Joanne (Steve) Spence and Serena (Matt) Sanders; Brother, Dale Spence; Brothers-in-Law, Bart (Lisa) Omand and Scott (Crystal) Omand; Sister-in-law, Lauralee (Chris) Eden. He also leaves behind Nieces and Nephews who, to some of them, he was Uncle Crazy: Coady, Myles, Maya, Kainen, Cassy (Korey), Drewe, Katie, Alex, Riley, Ty, Patrick, Shane, Brandon, Kaden, Carson. He also leaves many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, extended family and people who called him Uncle or Brother as well as many friends and neighbours who will remember him fondly.
Wade’s Dad was Military all his life. This resulted in Wade moving often during his school years as a “Base Brat”. He did not have any problems making friends in all the places he moved to though, because he had a goofy nature, a carefree attitude and a contagious laugh that people gravitated to. Wade and Darlene met in November 1992 and were together from their first date, having gotten married in September 2004. They spent most of their adult lives in Winnipeg, before moving to Red Deer in 2013. While in Winnipeg, Wade worked at Salisbury House for over 20 years. He loved his job there, had many regular/repeat customers, and would probably still be there if there were any Salisbury Houses in Red Deer. One week after moving to Red Deer Wade was hired on the spot at Boston Pizza, where he enjoyed both his customers and his coworkers, before starting at WalMart in 2019. Wade did overnight stocking and joked that it was like going and doing a gym workout where they paid him instead of him paying for the membership.
There will be no formal service in Red Deer at this time. There is a Celebration of Life planned for Saturday, October 8th, 2022 in Winnipeg, time and location to be determined. Darlene and Dara will be posting details on Facebook when finalized. All are welcome to come and share a memory.
The family would like to thank Red Deer Emergency Services, Red Deer Hospital, STARS Air Ambulance, and Calgary Foothills Hospital ICU for their efforts and care given to Wade. As well, a big Thank you to everyone for their overwhelming love, prayers, and support (emotional, spiritual and financial) during the stay in Calgary.
