It is with heavy hearts we announce a new angel, Vera McDonell, was called to heaven at the age of 78. Vera was an amazing women, who had a heart of gold. There aren’t any words that carry enough power and love to explain Vera. She was respected, admired, looked up to and cherished by her family. Vera was named “Buggy”, by her grandchildren, and was extremely close to them and her own children. Always making sure she made herself available to offer advice, guidance, a shoulder to cry on, or jokes to make you laugh in your time of need. Vera was always a care giver, first to her twin sister Edna, then for her mother, Ingeborg. She cared for her own children so well and their father, Walter, when he had cancer. She then cared lovingly for her husband Bill, after his stroke up until her death. She deeply cared for people and did her best to help anyone she could. She had a unique talent for making any activity fun and special. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Vera; one of the most important was how to help others and love them with your whole heart, unconditionally. That she did her whole life until she took her last breath. She was the most beautiful person inside and out.
She was and is, a true gift and she will be missed beyond measure. She was out best friend, our Queen, and our rock and she will never be forgotten.
Vera is survived by & deeply missed by her husband, Bill McDonell; daughter, Sheri Graham; son Larry Bablitz, daughter, Donna Bablitz, grandchildren, Heather, Bobby, Sandi, Jesse(Jessica), great grandchildren; Alanna, Zakary, and Harlow, and her little dog Leo.
Vera’s funeral will be held 11:00a.m., July 30, 3018 at Eventide Funeral Home in Red Deer, with internment to follow at Innisfail cemetery.
A special thanks to the staff at Kelowna Hospice and Kelowna General Hospital for their care and kindness towards Vera.
