We regret to announce the passing away of Ursula Dordevic on November 4th, 2021, at the age of 94. Ursula passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at her home at Bethany Collegeside in Red Deer.
Ursula was born in Hamburg, Germany, on December 6th, 1926. She came to Canada by boat in 1950 for the chance at a better life. Ursula married her husband, Mike, on December 6, 1952. They shared their life together in many different cities in Alberta such Blairmore, Lethbridge, Edmonton, Wetaskiwin and finally retired in Red Deer to be close to their family. Ursula worked in a bakery, the deli department and as a cashier for Safeway. Her most notable job was being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her kind and generous heart and her love for her family and friends. She was an amazing baker, loved to play bingo, loved to travel and loved to create amazing gingerbread houses that she donated to schools and private organizations in Red Deer each year to help raise funds for Christmas charities. Her warm and friendly personality had an impact on everyone she met.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Debra (Rick) Dearing of Red Deer, Alberta and grandchildren Noel Dearing, Larissa (Shay) Redford and Kassia (Kyle) Rawlinson and great grandchildren Mia and Merrick Rawlinson; her daughter-in-law Wendy Dordevic of Danville, California and grandchildren Bradley, Daniel, Matthew, Christy; son Peter (Trudy) of Lethbridge and grandchildren Michael, Kimberly and great grandchildren Trista and Katie; Ursula is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Mike Dordevic; her son George Dordevic; her grandson, Michael James Dearing; brother, Richard Wacker; and by her parents Wally and Wilhelm Wacker. A viewing has been arranged at Red Deer Funeral Home, 6150 – 67 Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 12:00 pm. – 2:00pm. A graveside service will follow at Alto Reste Cemetery in Red Deer County. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Bethany for their amazing dedication, compassion and support they gave Ursula over the past eight and half years she lived there.
