Our beloved Tracy; husband, dad, Popo, and Zio, passed away peacefully in Calgary on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Foothills Medical Centre, at the age of 81.
Tracy was born in Edmonton, AB. He moved to Red Deer in 1950 with his parents, Dr. Harold and Helena Spencer. In 1955, the family moved to the Tracy Bar Ranch, across from Gasoline Alley.
Tracy married the love of his life, Ivana Mauro, on June 28, 1968. Prior to their marriage, Tracy and Ivana purchased land and began building their own home on 40 acres of the ranch. They lived there for over 33 years, raising their children, Gina and Jaden. As time went on, Tracy and Ivana decided to downsize and build a new home in the city of Red Deer, where they lived for 11 years. With time and age, they decided to downsize again in 2012 to move closer to family.
Tracy is survived by his loving wife, Ivana, of 57 years; his daughter, Gina (Patrick) Heinsen; his son, Jaden; and his granddaughters, Shalom Heinsen and Mia Heinsen (Nole Paradoski). He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Erminio Mauro (and family); his sisters-in-law, Angela Mauro Violato (Claudio and family) and Norma Mauro and family; along with his dear cousins, Anna-Lynn Funicelli (Nick), Margareta Mauser Clausen (Ed), Dale Mauser, and Jill-Ellen Mauser.
Tracy was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Harold and Helena Spencer; his sister, Margaret-Ann Estabrooks; his dear aunt and uncle, Margaret and Harold Mauser; his in-laws, Luigi and Luisa Mauro; and his brother-in-law, Nilo Mauro.
Tracy had many great qualities and was an honest, hard-working man. Beyond his career as a teacher, he had countless projects on the go at any given time. He was truly a master-of-all-trades kind of man. He took pride in passing on his knowledge and skills to his son, Jaden, and his son-in-law, Patrick. Tracy enjoyed cooking and baking, and many of his special breakfast recipes, taught to his children, were in turn passed on to his granddaughters.
Above all, Tracy’s devotion to, and love for, his family set him apart. Tracy led by example, making time for others, helping those in need, and, above all, giving generously from the heart.
Christmas was his favourite time of year, and he always gave to others, especially those in need.
To honour his memory, memorial tributes would be greatly appreciated made directly to the Salvation Army, 1731 29th Street SW Calgary, AB, T3C 1M6, online at www.salvationarmy.ca, or by phone 403-410-1112
Tracy will always be missed by his family and friends. We will always cherish his smile, his stories, his laughter, and, above all, his strong hugs.
We love you Tracy, Dad, Popo, Zio, and dear friend.
