Taylor Joseph Barski of Red Deer passed away on May 30, 2019 at the age of 15 years.
Taylor was born July 11, 2003 in Kelowna surrounded by many family members and hospital staff. We’ll call it his grand entrance party. He was raised in Kelowna until 2010, when the family decided to move to Red Deer.
Taylor went to Mountview Elementary School, which is where we believe he found his love for art. Later, he went to Eastview Middle School, where he found his love for woodwork and found some good friends. He entered Hunting Hills High School in September 2018. Taylor started to become more independent. He may not have really enjoyed school, but he loved the people there.
Taylor was known by his friends as “Barski” or “Moop” — don’t ask, I don’t know why. He was known by family as Tay, Tator, Tator Tot, and Spud. Taylor was funny, smart, artistic, creative, and goofy. He loved to draw, collect things, talk to his best friends, call his sister just to trick her into buying him something, and make funny music videos with his cousins. One of the last things he said was that he was excited for baseball.
“The boy grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was a teenager. He had strange friends and he wore strange clothes and he listened to strange music. Sometimes the mother felt like she was in a zoo. But at nighttime, when the teenager was asleep, the mother opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor and looked over his bed. If he was really asleep, she picked him up, that great big boy, and rocked him back and forth. While she rocked him, she said,
I’ll love you forever.
I’ll like you for always.
As long as I’m living
my baby you’ll be.”
By Robert Munsch
If anyone is to learn anything from this, it is to:
Be kind
Learn to Love more
Learn to talk more
Learn to ask more questions
We Love you, Taylor, forever and always
Taylor is survived by his Mom, Courtney, his Dad, Stacey, his sisters, Samantha, Chelsey (Cassandra), and Carissa (Steve), Barry and Mel (grandparents), Jaime and Rory (aunt and uncle), Owen and Lyndsey (aunt and uncle), Colin (uncle), cousins Mackenzie, Weston, Brooklyn, Olivia, Aria and Emmia, and his niece, Peyton. He was predeceased by Grandma Kathaleen.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Kelowna with family and another one in Red Deer for friends.
Condolences to Taylor Barski’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
